P4: Network Programmability and Control for Modern Networking Needs (Repeat Session)
January 11 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Event Details
Description
This session explores the shift in networking enabled by programmable switches and P4, a domain specific language designed to define the behavior of network devices. Starting with an overview of switching, routing, and Software-Defined networking (SDN), it examines how P4 compares to traditional network architectures in terms of flexibility and efficiency. The session highlights P4’s key use cases, ecosystem components (such as compilers, target platforms, and open-source tools), and its role in addressing modern networking challenges. Attendees will learn about standard protocols, practical workflows for developing, deploying, and testing P4 code, and how P4 is contributing to the evolution of network design and management.
